CHRIST IN THE CENTRE 2010 is on 2nd April
The organisers of ‘Christ in the Centre’ will meet soon to decide whether the event is taking place in 2010, but after 7 fantastic years, it is likely to go ahead next Easter provided funding can be found

This year's event on 10^th April Good Friday demonstrated the versatility of the production yet again. This year the pageant was directed by James Burke-Dunsmore, who also took on the lead role of Jesus for the fifth time. It was also the first year we say a little rain on the proceedings, but it didn't last long. To read about previous years productions click here.

The event started at 10.30am in St. Peter’s Square in the new Highcross Centre. The theme this year was “The Cross”, and this first act included short scenes showing the lives of Christians who have followed Jesus, such as Saul/Paul and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and others with connections to Leicester like Lady Jane Grey, William Wilberforce and Sheila Cassidy.

The traditional procession following the cross went along the pedestrianised High Street to Humberstone Gate, where the remaining two acts of this year’s production took place on the main stage from 11.30am.

Act 2 saw scenes linked to Jesus' words on the cross and included the Prodigal Son and scenes of Jesus’ ministry. Act 3 told the passion story from Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, the Last Supper, his arrest, trial and death on the cross, before we saw his glorious resurrection and appearance to his followers.
